In our study group, we are researching the importance of tumour signalling pathways, such as Notch, JAK/STAT and Hedgehog, in gastrointestinal tumours (e.g. pancreatic carcionma, cholangiocellular carcinoma). To do this, we use both cell culture and mouse models. In addition, we are also interested in better understanding the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of tumours, and we are analysing tumour stem cells in this context as well. Through our test approaches, we hope to find new starting points for therapy and to improve on conventional chemotherapies.
