Research Aims

In the neuroprosthetics group we work on open and closed loop systems for cognitive or motor impairments restoration. We use mainly brain (invasive and non-invasive) and muscle activity (non-invasive) as main control signals for the different devices. The final goal of our group is to combine state of the art techniques in signal processing, skill learning and clinical impairment related neurophysiology know-how to construct, use, optimise and test rehabilitation and assisstive neuroprostheses in specifics cognitive or motor impairments.


We study multisensory integration neurophysiology and psychophysiscs to improve efficacy of our systems. CNS electrical and magnetic stimulation techniques and effects are also studied and used.


Technologies used: EEG, MEG, fNIRS, fMRI, EMG, ECoG, Intracortical electrodes, Robotics (exoskeletons), FES, TMS, tDCS, haptic feedback.
