University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

Disorders or deformities of the musculoskeletal system affect a person's life in respect of leisure activities, sports and profession. The University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery restores its patients' mobility: Pain-free mobility and physical resilience can be restored as a result of state-of-the-art treatment methods. In 2003 the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery was one of the first Tübingen University Hospitals to be certificated in accordance with the ISO 9001 stipulations. It is located in the Crona Hospitals on the "Berg" Hospital premises.

State-of-the-art procedures in endoprosthetics

The Hospital relies on state-of-the-art techniques for joint replacements for the hip, knee, shoulder and small joints. These, in particular, include hip cap prosthesis, minimally invasive surgical access and computer-assisted navigation. Our experts will brief you on the possibility and advisability of the employment of these procedures.

Major or minor: Surgery of the spinal column
The experts at our Hospital are highly skilled in major surgical procedures for degeneration of the spinal column and minimally invasive surgical procedures, which are employed, for example, in the case of disorders of the intervertebral disks. These procedures facilitate the rapid restoration of the patients' mobility.

Surgery for children: Highest requirements
We are particularly anxious to help our young patients who, in particular, come to us with hip and foot disorders. Our experts will advise if treatment with physiotherapy and splinting is possible, or if surgery is required.

Experts for paediatric orthopaedic and sports orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation medicine

Our paediatric orthopaedic surgery experts look after children and adolescents with congenital or acquired disorders, as well as with malposition of the limbs or the spinal column. Our experts work in close collaboration with the Departments of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy in the areas of sports orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation medicine.
