University Department of Radiation Oncology
The University Department of Radiation Oncology is located in the Crona Hospitals on the Schnarrenberg ("Berg" Hospitals). In addition to a day clinic, there is a bright and friendly hospital building which was newly erected in 2007 for our patients. The building is located in the direct vicinity of the state-of-the-art research centre for high-precision radiation therapy and intraoperative navigation techniques.
Radiation therapy is regarded as being one of the main supportive measures in the treatment of cancer. High-energy radiation is directed at and localised entirely to the tumour area in order to kill-off the malignant cells.
The Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technological equipment and offers all the respective procedures which are part of the radiotherapeutic indication spectrum for tumour diseases. Experts from the field of medical physics ensure spot-on precision and the gentlest radiation techniques. Our specialists at the Southwest German Tumour Centre - the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Tübingen - work in close collaboration with all the other specialist disciplines at the University Hospital.
