Institute of Medical Virology and Epidemiology of Viral Diseases
The Institute's main focus is on clinical virology and basic research, as well as on the clinically applied research of infectious diseases. The Institute carries out laboratory diagnostics for viral infections which can be found in our part of the world and also provides consultation services in this field. The Institute furthermore acts as a competence laboratory for viral infections which occur during pregnancy. A Research Section concentrating on the field of tumour virology (Management: Prof. Dr. Thomas Iftner) is also located in our Institute.
The Institute of Medical Virology and Epidemiology of Viral Diseases is located between the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and the "BG" Hospital on the "Berg" Hospital premises.
