Institute of Pathology and Neuropathology (Department)
Pathology is the study of structural changes (= morphological) in organs, tissue and cells which occur in the event of disease, incorporating molecular pathological methods.
The Institute of Pathology and Neuropathology has three divisions: The "General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy" and the "Molecular Pathology" both are located at the Liebermeisterstraße 8, the "Neuropathology ist located at the Calwerstraße 3.
Every year approximately 45.000 tissue samples from all surgical and non-surgical disciplines at the University Hospital Tübingen, and other external sources are examined. By employing conventional histological, immunohistological, electron microscopic and molecular pathological examination methods, the Institute covers the whole spectrum of bioptic and autoptic diagnostics.
