Centre for Rare Diseases (“ZSE”)
First German Treatment and Research Centre for Rare Diseases

In reality, the so-called rare diseases are anything but rare, with some 3 million sufferers in Germany alone. Diseases are classified as rare when they affect fewer than 5 in every 10,000 persons. Diagnosis, treatment, therapy and research require close cooperation between specialists from a variety of disciplines.
The goal of the Treatment and Research Centre for Rare Diseases (ZSE Tübingen) is to provide optimal treatment for patients with rare diseases, to investigate rare diseases in national and international networks and to promote cooperation across the professions. In January 2010 it became the first German center for rare diseases to begin operations.
Patients are requested to contact their specialty centre directly.
