University Department of Neurology
The Department of Neurology is located on the premises of the Crona Hospitals. Part of the Department of Neurology are the departments of general neurology, cognitive neurology and neurology with a main focus on neurodegenerative disorders.
Since the year 2000, the renowned University Department of Neurology in collaboration with the then newly founded Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research constitutes one of the largest and state-of-the-art Centres for Neurology in Germany. This facilitates medical treatment and research at a level which is internationally first-class. As a result of this wide interdisciplinary basis, findings from research, as, for example, the causes of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, can be incorporated directly into the treatment of the patients.
Furthermore the experts at the University Department of Neurology work in close collaboration with the departments of neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuropaediatrics and neuropathology, and also work in partnership with the University Hospital's Centre for Geriatric Medicine.
