Period of Practical Training in Nursing Care
The period of practical training in nursing care is an "extra-curricular course credit" and is a mandatory requirement for admission to the First National Medical Licence Examination ("1. Ärztliche Prüfung"). Proof must be submitted that this period of practical training comprised a total of 90 calendar days. If you were unable to complete this period of practical training before being admitted to study Medicine, you will normally only be allowed to complete this practical training during lecture-free periods.
You will find all the requisite information, as well as blank forms for the certification of the completion of a period of practical training in nursing care, in the leaflet published by the State Examination Authority in Stuttgart ("LPA Stuttgart").
Please send your letters of enquiry and your applications direct to the institutions (hospitals, clinics, etc) of your choice.
The accreditation of previously completed nursing care activities in the health-care sector, in community service, in a voluntary year of social service, in the German Armed Forces or abroad, can be carried out on request by the State Examination Authority in Stuttgart ("LPA Stuttgart").
The Office of the Dean of Academic Studies at the Faculty of Medicine will issue testimonials on request for students wishing to complete this period of practical training in hospitals abroad. These testimonials can only be issued to students who are studying Medicine in Tübingen.
Please submit your completed application form with the requisite documents (originals and unauthenticated copies) during our office hours. It will take 7 days to process your application.
You can either collect your testimonial personally or have it collected for you. Alternatively, you can include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage with your application.
