Double Funding for Early-Career Brain Cancer Researchers from the Joachim Herz Stiftung

Two early-career researchers from the group of Prof. Dr. Lisa Sevenich at the M3 Research Center and Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research and the University Hospital Tübingen have secured competitive funding from the Joachim Herz Stiftung to advance their work in translational neuro-oncology.

Vanessa Arnold has been awarded an Add-On Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Life Science (€15,000), while Anna Wolfram received a Kickstart Fund (€48,000) to further develop Cancer Core – a novel model that enables functional testing of cancer therapies on both tumor tissue and healthy human neural cells, grown from cerebral organoids. The model supports dual drug profiling, assessing both efficacy and neurotoxicity, and aims to improve personalized treatment strategies for patients with brain cancer.

With this new support, the researchers will push forward their translational work at the interface of laboratory innovation and clinical application. Anna Wolfram will collaborate with Cenibra GmbH to scale high-content image-based profiling using the Orion multiplex microscope (RareCyte), advancing efforts in functional precision medicine.

Special thanks go to the Joachim Herz Stiftung, Michael Schell (Cenibra GmbH), and mentors Prof. Dr. Lisa Sevenich and Prof. Dr. Ghazaleh Tabatabai for their continued support and guidance. This marks a strong start to 2026!
