Post-Conference Workshop: Prof Stephan Zipfel & Professor Phillipa Hay

By Stephan Zipfel, University of Tuebingen, Germany Phillipa Hay, Western Sydney University, Australia
We will first present key psychodynamic theories and models in the context of the outcomes of the ANTOP study, one of the largest outpatient psychotherapy trials for adults with anorexia nervosa in which one of the three treatment arms was FPTs. This will be followed by an introduction to the specific approach to a multidimensional formulation using the Operationalised Psychodynamic Diagnostic System (OPD). Subsequently, we will present the principles of the three phases of treatment. In this section of the workshop, we will include case examples in audio format. In the final part of the workshop, we will discuss the limitations of FPT, including the variability in training opportunities for psychodynamic psychotherapy and health policy aspects that affect the treatment of patients with eating disorders across different healthcare systems.
This workshop is suitable for people with some knowledge of psychodynamic therapy
