The power of FAIR data and tools for biomedical research
Prof. Dr. Sven Nahnsen, Director of the Quantitative Biology Center (QBiC), Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen

Biography: Professor Nahnsen studied Biomathematics and Biotechnology at the Universities Greifswald (Germany), Strasbourg (France) and Cambridge (UK). He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Tübingen in 2010. For many years he has been working at the interface of computer science and the biomedical sciences. He developed software solutions, as well as mathematical approaches for the analysis of modern high-throughput data. In 2012 he accepted the position as the head of the newly established Quantitative Biology Center (QBiC) in Tübingen. Together with his team he developed automated solutions for data and project management for clinical studies as well as bioinformatics methods fort he integration of multi-scale omics data. Since 2021, he is professor for biomedical data science at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Tübingen. His research focusses on the development of computational tools for reproducible and integrative data analysis with applications in oncology and microbiology.
