Neurophysiolology & Interventional Neuropsychiatry
More information
The scientific focus of the group relates to basic and applied perspectives on transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in psychiatric disorders. Furthermore, in the clinical frame, we conduct EEG diagonstics and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as well as their scientific evaluations.
Our group is involved in patient-centered care and research as well as fundamental scientific research and teaching.
Clinicum: EEG-Diagnostics and Electroconvulsion Therapy (ECT)
We routineley perform and evaluate EEG Diagnostics and Electroconvulsion Therapy (ECT).
Research: Neurophysiology and Pathophysiology of cerebral functions
Our research focuses psychiatric aspects of the physiology and pathophysiology of cerebral functions by applying electrophysiological, brainstimulatory, and imaging techniques.
Especially new interventional techniques are applied in experimental and treatment approaches that involve the direct modulation of cerebral activity (transcranial magnetic stimulation [TMS], transcranial direct current stimulation [tDCS], deep brain stimulation [DBS], and neurofeedback). These approaches are important and promising instruments of current psychiatric-neurophysiologic research and are studied regarding their efficiacy, effectivity, and safety in therapeutic applications of various neuropsychiatric disorders.
Teaching: Cumpulsory Optional Subject, Post-Graduates Colloquium, Advanced Medical Training
Lectures of the group Neurophysiology & Interventional Neuropsychiatry (NiN) include cumpulsory optional subjects for university students, the post-graduate colloquium, and advanced medical training.
