Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the second internal call for applications for the Novartis Research Prize for Clinician Scientists, endowed with 8.000 Euro.
The award is intended to support early-career researchers who meet the eligibility criteria (see below). The winner will be drawn at random from all eligible applications.
Eligibility Criteria:
You have completed your doctoral degree (Dr.med. or Dr.med.dent./PhD).
You are employed at the University Clinic Tübingen.
You are currently in medical specialty training or have completed it no more than six months ago.
You are actively engaged in research, with at least two verifiable activities in the past 12 months, such as:
Contributions to scientific conferences (past or accepted abstracts with confirmation from organizers)
Scientific publications (original articles, case reports, or systematic reviews – published or accepted with editor confirmation)
Participation in collaborative projects as (co-)PI (funding confirmation required)
Independent ongoing grant funding for own research projects (proof of funding required)
In all cases, applicants must submit a declaration of their personal contribution and be explicitly named in the confirmation letters.
Applicants are also asked to submit a brief statement (1 paragraph) outlining their intended use of the EUR 8.000 in research funds (e.g., conference travel, project-related materials).

Please note:
The selection is independent of research topic, department, age, doctoral grade, publication count, or journal impact factors.
Research funded by a pharmaceutical company in the sense of clinical trials under the German Medicines Act (AMG) or the Medical Devices Act (MPG) cannot be awarded.

The winner will be drawn on 21.09.2026 in Conference Room 108, Geissweg 5/1, online participation is possible (link will be sent out later).
The award ceremony will be part of the Clinician Scientist Event on 08.10.2026 at 4 p.m. in the Crona lecture hall.
