Translational Research in Public Health

Research about the causes and burden of disease highlights the potential for effective prevention to improve health, wellbeing and wealth of populations. Evidence based interventions and policies at individual and policy level to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities exist but are often not implemented.
This presentation reviews (some) methods and approaches to optimise the potential for public health research with impact on population health. A particular focus is research conducted to guide health and social care policy, mostly taken from the work of the UK NIHR Policy Research Unit Behavioural Science. This covers work on diabetes prevention and remission and Covid-19 amongst others.
