Symposium: NEW HORIZONS IN PRECISION MEDICAL IMAGING AND THERAPY
The symposium honors the excellent contributions of Prof. Mikhail Shapiro – awarded this year with the "New Horizons Fellowship" of the Excellence Strategy at the University of Tübingen. Prof. Shapiro is an outstanding leader and influenced a broad range of scientific fields worldwide (see details here). His laboratory has developed the first gene-encoded reporter genes for ultrasound imaging with single-cell resolution and discovered fundamental biophysical, biomedical, and biochemical mechanisms with application in oncology and neurology.
As a tribute to his multidisciplinary research and diversity in science, we set up a unique scientific "New Horizons" symposium with renowned scientists:

GENE-ENCODED GAS VESICLES FOR MOLECULAR FOCUSED ULTRASOUND IMAGING IN CELLS
The workshop "Gene-encoded Gas Vesicles for Molecular Focused Ultrasound Imaging in cells" will take place in the labs of the Werner Siemens Imaging Center (WSIC) in Tübingen.
The number of participants is limited to 10 and requires prior registration. First come - first served! For registration, please also use the link "Anmelden" in the side bar (top left corner). The registration deadline is October 10, 2022.
In this workshop we will demonstrate the capability of the new fUS techniques and the use of gene-encoded gas vesicles in the field of preclinical imaging. The following techniques will be included in the training:
- Functional ultrasound imaging
- Cell engineering
- Wet lab techniques
- Imaging analysis
Demonstration will be given by Marjorie Buss (Caltech) and Lucas Freidel (WSIC).
