iFIT Lunch & Learn with Marissa Dubbelaar
Navigating the immunopeptidomics landscape: Unraveling the bioinformatic pipelines of cutting-edge research

On behalf of the iFIT spokespersons Lars Zender, Hans-Georg Rammensee and Bernd Pichler, it is our pleasure to inform you about and invite you to the next iFIT Lunch and Learn Session 2024 that will take place
on Wednesday, February 28th at 12:30 pm (CET)
at Crona Clinic, Big Lecture Hall (Crona Kliniken, Hoppe-Seyler-Straße 3, 72076 Tübingen).
Our speaker, Dr. Marissa Dubbelaar (Institute of Immunology, University Hospital Tübingen) will give a talk on
"Navigating the immunopeptidomics landscape: Unraveling the bioinformatic pipelines of cutting-edge research"
The Department of Peptide-based Immunotherapy is dedicated to translational studying and developing T cell-based immunotherapies for infectious and tumor diseases. The primary objective is rapidly translating promising research discoveries in peptide-based immunotherapy into practical clinical applications for patients. Consequently, the department comprises an application-oriented research area, delving into the mechanisms of T cell-mediated immune recognition of tumors and virus-infected cells through HLA-presented peptides. This research also drives the development of innovative immunotherapy concepts. Here, the bioinformatic team plays a crucial role by handling the intricate data derived from mass spectrometry and various omics technologies, including genomics and transcriptomics. The team employs established and innovative methods to identify potential new targets for immunotherapy. Through close collaboration with the Center for Quantitative Biology, they utilize and advance validated bioinformatics workflows.
During this Lunch & Learn session, Marissa Dubbelaar will analyze a glioblastoma dataset to work through the different processes and highlight bioinformatic tools and methodologies.
Her background lies in neuroimmunology, where she focussed on the immune cells in the brain environment. Coming to the Department of Peptide-based Immunotherapy, she started working mainly on the immunopeptidome of various brain cancers. In parallel, she aims to improve the existing immunopeptidomics workflow and integrate these findings with next-generation sequencing technologies, which can be used to identify HLA-presented peptides.
As a special feature of this program, the iFIT will sponsor free lunch packages! (First come, first serve)
All members of the University Hospital and University of Tübingen are invited to participate!
We look forward to this Lunch & Learn session and to see you there!
