iFIT Lunch & Learn Sessions 2025 with Prof. Dr. Bettina Weigelin
Seeing the bigger picture - light-sheet microscopy for quantifying metastasis and systemic immune response in preclinical models

On behalf of the iFIT spokespersons Lars Zender, Juliane Walz and Bernd Pichler, it is our pleasure to inform you about and invite you to the next episode of our iFIT Seminar Series 2025 that will take place
on Wednesday, July 2nd at 12:00 pm (CEST)
at Big Lecture Hall in the Women's Clinic (Frauenklinik, Calwerstraße 7, 72076 Tübingen).
Our speaker and member, Prof. Dr. Bettina Weigelin (Werner Siemens Imaging Center, Tübingen) will give a talk on
“Seeing the bigger picture - light-sheet microscopy for quantifying metastasis and systemic immune response in preclinical models”.
What if we could map cancer and immune responses across the entire organism, down to the level of single cells? In this talk, I’ll discuss how light-sheet microscopy allows us to do just that. Whole-organ and whole-mouse tissue clearing combined with light-sheet imaging enables quantification of metastatic burden and systemic immune activity in intact organs and organisms. This comprehensive approach can reveal crosstalk between tissue compartments and bridge the gap between cellular-scale events and whole-body immune responses. Using cancer immunotherapy as an example, I’ll highlight recent technical innovations, remaining challenges, and the potential of combining light-sheet microscopy with macroscopic imaging in correlative multiscale workflows to deepen our understanding of systemic immune dynamics and therapy outcomes.
As a special feature of this program, iFIT will sponsor free lunch packages! (First come, first serve)
All members of the University Hospital and University of Tübingen are invited to participate!
We look forward to this Seminar Series session and to see you there!
