Dr. Roman Sankowski - "Decoding the Leptomeninges: From Immunosurveillance Hub to Niche for Tumor Progression"

We cordially invite you on 01.07.2026 at 17:15 to our Kleiner Hörsaal – Level 1 Room 108 (Liebermeisterstr. 8, Institute of Pathology) for a talk on "Decoding the leptomeninges: from immunosurveillance hub to niche for tumor progression" by PD Dr. Roman Sankowski (Institute of Neuropathology, University Medical Center Freiburg).
PD Dr. Sankowski is a senior physician at the Institute of Neuropathology at the University Medical Center Freiburg. His research focuses on myeloid cells of the brain – in particular microglia and macrophages – and their role in neurological diseases. Using state-of-the-art single-cell and spatial omics technologies, he investigates the molecular basis of neuroimmunological processes. He recently published a landmark study on the multi-omic and spatial mapping of innate immune cells at the border regions of the human CNS in Nature Medicine (2024).

hiermit laden wir Sie am 01.07.2026 um 17:15 Uhr in unseren Kleinen Hörsaal – Ebene 1 Raum 108 (Liebermeisterstr. 8, Institut für Pathologie) zum Vortrag „Decoding the leptomeninges: from immunosurveillance hub to niche for tumor progression" von PD Dr. Roman Sankowski (Institut für Neuropathologie, Universitätsklinikum Freiburg) ein.
PD Dr. Sankowski ist Oberarzt am Institut für Neuropathologie des Universitätsklinikums Freiburg. Seine Forschung fokussiert auf myeloische Zellen des Gehirns – insbesondere Mikroglia und Makrophagen – und deren Rolle bei neurologischen Erkrankungen. Mithilfe modernster Single-Cell- und Spatial-Omics-Technologien untersucht er die molekularen Grundlagen neuroimmunologischer Prozesse. Zuletzt publizierte er eine wegweisende Studie zur multiomischen und räumlichen Kartierung angeborener Immunzellen an den Grenzbereichen des menschlichen ZNS in Nature Medicine (2024).
