About us

The M3 Research Center is at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, merging cancer (malignom) metabolome and microbiome research. What sets us apart from other Research Centers is our unique approach of systematically examining these three areas as an interconnected network, including the use of all disciplinaries and infrastructures concentrated at one site – The M3 Research Center. This ground-breaking perspective enables us to discover novel mechanistic underpinnings of disease and to discover novel combinatorial strategies for personalized cancer therapies and at the same time - due to our tight affiliation to the University clinic Tübingen - to efficiently translate the later.

Located on the Schnarrenberg with a beautiful view on Tübingen, The M3 Research Center provides space for 18 research groups on 4 floors and on 4500 m². The building, whose construction was completed in 2023, is equipped with a photovoltaic installation of about 500 m², which allows for energy-efficient operation of the large facility.

Our Mission

Our mission

The M3 Research Center is dedicated to fostering an optimal infrastructure and global visibility for interdisciplinary research with a translational focus. A central priority lies in integrating research findings across the center’s three core areas: malignom, microbiome, and metabolome. The utilization of bioinformatics and artificial intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role in supporting these endeavors. By promoting close collaborations among scientists and physicians, The M3 Research Center aspires to establish the University of Tübingen as a world-leading research institution in these fields.

The newly constructed research center serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research groups, providing shared laboratories and cutting-edge technologies to catalyze the realization of these objectives. Committed to internationalization, cultural diversity, and equality, we adhere to the principles of good scientific/laboratory practice. By fostering creativity and diligence, providing support from experienced leaders, facilitating participation in conferences, and promoting training and further education we prioritize the professional and personal growth of our employees.
